100 g plain flour | |
0.50 tsp salt | |
200 g wholemeal flour | |
75 g margarine | |
50 g lard | |
50 g castor sugar | |
3 tbsp water | cold |
1 egg |
With steel blade in position, place both types of flour into bowl, add salt and fat roughly cut up, process on speed 2 until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Add the sugar, egg and water, and process on speed 1 to form a dough. Roll out on a lightly floured board to 3mm thickness, cut into round 60mm diameter with a plain cutter and prick with a fork. Place biscuits on greased baking sheets and bake in a pre-heated oven 180C for 15-20 minutes. Cool on a wire rack. Makes 40 biscuits approximately. | |
