- The TEATRO MUNICIPAL dates back to the middle of the XIX the century, therefore is the oldest theatre of the city.
- The construction works began in April 6, 1876, under decree of President Guzmán Blanco who originally named it after himself.
- It is located downtown Caracas, in the Municipal Corner at El Silencio, this corner is the origin of the name it took on later on.
- It was built at the site where Saint Paul Temple and the Our Lady of Charity Hospice were originally located and its construction represented a step towards the “updating” of the city to modern times that was characteristic of Guzman Blanco´s presidency.
